The biggest thing

What's the biggest thing God has asked you to do that caused you to set aside your own wishes to obey God?

Oh, see, that's a trick question...if we delight ourselves in the Lord, He will give us the desires of our hearts.

He tells me what to want, and I *do* want it--when I'm truly obeying Him.

I do believe there are times in our lives that God will test us. He has every right; after all He is God! Look at Abraham, God tested his faith to the point of almost sacrificing his own son, and not just any son, the son given to him in his old age as the promised seed of a generation. That's pretty huge. But, Abraham obeyed. God tested His people throughout the Bible. Deut. 8 talks about God testing us to see what is in our hearts; if it's evil or good.
For me, it's an ongoing thing. My son has juvenile diabetes and God is trying to teach this "fearful" and "controlling" mom that He is in control of my son's life. I have to choose to trust Him everyday for Kendall's well-being. We are not our own, we have been bought with a price (His Son's blood) and so we must obey Him regardless. (The only time we don't obey is if it goes against scriptural principles.)
